Sometimes after a rough day, I am hard pressed to remember why I decided to homeschool and what I am trying to accomplish. It is easy to get bogged down with a scope and sequence, state standards, checklists and schedules. It is easy to get caught up in busy work and forget my mission.
Several months ago I became determined to purposefully and clearly state my mission for homeschooling. My hope in doing this was that on days where I lose focus and forget what my purpose for all of this is, I can read it and have a renewed strength for homeschooling.
So here it is:
Our mission is to educate our children wholly, helping them mature spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually to their fullest potential, thereby equipping them to impact God’s kingdom, continually seeking alignment with His will for their lives.
My mission is rooted in these scriptures.
Deuteronomy 11: 18-22
The most important thing for me to remember in all the chaos is this, it is my job to do my best for my kids. Not to be perfect. If I work hard and stay focused on the Lord, He will direct my path. Even if that means we spend an entire day playing outside in the dirt, which by the way my children would LOVE!
